What is the age requirement for owners and renters?

To rent or own a truck on RentMyTruck, you must be at least 21 years old. Sorry kiddos, you’ll have to wait a few more years to join the truckin’ fun. 

How do RentMyTruck's ratings work?

Our two-way rating system helps keep our community safe and awesome. At the end of each rental, both the owner and renter can leave a review and rating (1-5 stars) for each other. This helps keep everyone accountable and makes sure that our trucks are in good hands. 

How do I get started renting a truck on RentMyTruck?

We’ll verify your driver’s license and credit card the first time you rent, and then you’re ready to hit the road. And the best part? There are no monthly or annual fees to join our truck-tastic community. 

How do I get started renting out my truck on RentMyTruck?

How does RentMyTruck Roadside Rescue rock?

If you find yourself in a sticky situation with one of our rental vehicles, no worries! Just give our 24/7 Roadside Rescue service a call at (972) 634-1245, and our dedicated RentMyTruck Support Team will be on it like a trucker on an open road. 

From towing to tire changes, our top-notch vendors will get you rolling again in no time, no matter where you are. And don’t sweat the costs – we’ll make sure the Renter or Owner responsible for the incident is charged for any Roadside Rescue services needed.

Do I need to provide my own insurance to rent a vehicle on RentMyTruck?

The answer is yes and no. Let me explain. 

Renters must have insurance coverage for rentals, but on our platform, you have options for insurance. If you qualify, RentMyTruck can provide you with coverage directly, making the account setup process easier and including it with your reservation. We work with top-notch insurance companies to offer quality coverage at competitive rates. Plus, we also include roadside assistance for access to our trusted network of vendors on reservations. 

However, if you prefer to provide your own insurance, you can do so by submitting a Certificate of Insurance Requirements document. We have specific requirements that must be met, including a $1 million liability policy, hired physical damage policy with limits of no less than $100,000, and RentMyTruck named as an Additional Insured and Loss Payee. 

To add proof of insurance for your Liability and Physical Damage Coverage when setting up your account, simply request a COI form from your insurance company, complete the form, and upload it to your account setup page. Our team will review it within 72 hours.

Check it out, cowboy! Before you hit the road, there are some restrictions on where you can take your rented vehicle. Now, we know you’re a free spirit, but it’s important to respect the Owner’s preference and licensing of the vehicle in the US of A. Some vehicles might not be registered to cross state lines, so be sure to check the vehicle details section of the listing page to see if you’re free to roam. 

If the Owner has given you the green light to travel across state lines and your DOT number allows it, then giddy up! However, it’s important to note that vehicles rented on the RentMyTruck platform can’t make it past the US border. We want you to have a blast on your trip, but let’s keep it in the good ol’ USA, partner! 

Why was a hold placed on my credit card when I requested to reserve a vehicle or extend a reservation?

We understand that making a reservation or extending a rental can be an exciting moment, and we want to make the process as smooth as possible. That’s why, when you submit a new rental request or ask to extend an active reservation, we may place a hold of 50 cents on your credit card to confirm the validity of the information provided. 

This process helps to ensure that the credit card on file can be transacted with and that there was no mistake in the entry of the information provided for the reservation or extension. In case the primary card fails, we will try to charge the backup card on file, and if that also fails, we will notify the Renter and Owner of the vehicle/s that the reservation has been canceled via email. 

Once the Owner approves your reservation or extension, the full amount of the reservation will be charged to your credit card, and you will receive a reservation confirmation email. 

In case a hold was placed for a security deposit on your reservation, it will be released upon successful return of your rental. Please note that depending on the processing time of your credit card company, it may take 3-7 business days for the amount to reflect on your account. But don’t worry, we’re here to assist you every step of the way. 

How does RentMyTruck charge for mileage?

At RentMyTruck, we believe in transparency and simplicity, which is why we charge a prepaid mileage fee based on the estimated amount of miles for your reservation. Once an Owner accepts your reservation, you’ll be charged a prepaid mileage fee in addition to your security deposit, so you can hit the road worry-free. 

For our Sleeper Tractors, you’ll have 350 miles prepaid charged at a rate of $0.12 per mile for each day reserved. For our Trailers, both Refrigerated and Dry, you’ll typically have 250 miles prepaid charged at a rate of $0.04 per mile for each day reserved. And for all other commercial vehicles, you’ll have 250 miles prepaid charged at a rate of $0.12 per mile for each day reserved. 

We know that plans can change, so we’ll adjust your mileage payment upon vehicle return based on the actual mileage used. If you exceed the estimated amount of prepaid miles for your reservation for non-trailers, we’ll charge the additional miles at a rate of $0.20 per mile, which is still a steal compared to other rental companies.

When will I get paid on RentMyTruck?

We know your time is valuable, which is why we make payment as easy and quick as possible. Lenders will be paid within five days following a completed reservation. So, whether you’re taking a cross-country road trip or renting out your truck for a local delivery, you’ll receive payment within a week of the reservation being completed. 

Please keep in mind that while we’ll do our part to process the payment quickly, it can take 3-7 business days for your bank to post the money to your account. So, make sure you’ve entered your correct banking information to avoid any delays. 

To receive payment for your reservations, simply enter a debit card into the payment section of the app. It’s that easy! And with our secure payment system, you can rest assured that your information is protected.

Can lenders charge additional fees on RentMyTruck?

Yes, lenders can charge additional fees before closing out a reservation. However, they must clearly disclose each additional fee associated with their vehicle prior to booking a reservation. This ensures that there are no surprises for borrowers when it comes to the total cost of their rental. 

The most common additional fees lenders charge are for fuel, mileage, smoking, and late returns. To be a courteous lender, we recommend that you message the borrower from within the app with additional fees prior to charging them. This way, you can avoid any misunderstandings and ensure that the borrower is aware of any extra costs before they are charged. 

Don’t worry about getting paid for any additional fees charged, as you’ll receive payment at the same time you receive payment for the base cost of the reservation. We believe in fairness and transparency, which is why we investigate any disputes regarding additional charges to determine if they were a fair rate and assessment. 

In the unlikely event that we find, in our sole discretion, that a lender charged a borrower inappropriately, untimely or without substantiation, we reserve the right to refund the borrower and assess the refund back to the lender. Please note that if we reverse lender-assessed charges, we’ll collect a $25 fee for administrative expenses. 

At RentMyTruck, we want to ensure that both lenders and borrowers have a positive experience. So, let’s be fair and upfront about any additional fees, and avoid any unnecessary misunderstandings!

Oops, I ended the reservation but forgot to charge the borrower an additional fee. What should I do?

No worries! Lenders have 24 hours to check their vehicle and report any additional issues that may result in extra fees. If you realize that you forgot to charge the borrower an additional fee, please communicate the additional fee(s) with the borrower so there are no surprise charges. To initiate the fees, simply contact our Customer Success team at help@rentmytruck.co within 24 hours to request additional charges. In your email, please include details of the fees, reservation number, and your full name. We’ll take care of the rest! 

What if I receive a parking ticket or other fee associated with a completed reservation? Don’t panic! If you receive a ticket or toll following a completed reservation, simply send it to help@rentmytruck.co along with the reservation ID number. Our team will review the document(s) and charge the borrower additional fees as necessary. We want to make sure that both lenders and borrowers are held accountable for any additional costs associated with their rental, so you can trust us to handle it fairly.
